Adding Fringe Benefit Packages

Objective

This article shows you how to create and manage Fringe Benefit Packages within the system. Proper setup of these packages ensures accurate payroll calculations, compliance with contractual obligations, and clarity in how employee benefits are applied across different roles or pay groups.

Process

  1. From the Getting Started section of the dashboard, click Click Here next to Step 6 Fringe Benefits Package Added. Or from the Setup tab, select Fringe Benefits Package under Certified Reports
  1. From the Fringe Benefit Package Management page, click the Add New Fringe Benefits Package.
  1. Enter a descriptive name for the package so it is clear who it applies to (e.g., Carpenter Journeyman or John Smith).
  2. Enter the Hourly Rate for Regular Time (RT), Overtime (OT), and any other applicable categories. These rates will auto-populate on payroll each week.
    • Note: If a group of employees receives the same fringe benefits but has different hourly rates, you can either:

      • Leave the hourly rate blank and enter it during Certified Payroll data entry, or

      • Create a separate fringe benefit package for each rate group.

  3. If you pay cash in place of fringe benefits, enter that amount in the Cash in lieu of Fringe Benefits field. This amount will automatically be added to the Basic Hourly Rate on the payroll data entry screen.
  4. For each benefit type provided (such as Savings, Travel/Subsistence, Fund Administration, Other Payments, Dues, Health & Welfare, Pension/Retirement, Vacation/Holiday, Training, or Other Fringe Benefits):

    • Select the corresponding Fund from the Fringe Benefit Plan dropdown menu.

    • Enter the hourly amount paid on behalf of the employee(s).

    • If a benefit type is not listed, enter its name and hourly rate in the available blank fields.

  5. Review all information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  6. Click Save to finalize the Fringe Benefit Package.

  1. Repeat Step 2 through 8 for each additional package you need to add.
