Overview
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your eComply account by requiring a second form of verification in addition to your username and password. This helps protect your account from unauthorized access, even if your password is compromised.
After your agency enables MFA, you will be prompted to set it up the next time you sign in to eComply. Once configured, you can use an authentication app such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator to verify your identity when prompted.
Before You Begin
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- An active eComply account.
- Access to your mobile device during setup.
Steps
Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication
- Sign in to eComply.
- On the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) prompt, select Proceed.
- On the Security Settings page, download a supported authentication app using one of the provided links, if you have not already installed one.
- Open the authentication app on your mobile device.
- Scan the QR code displayed in eComply, or enter the unique setup key into the authentication app.
- Enter the six-digit verification code generated by the authentication app into the Verification Code field.
- Select Verify.
- Confirm that the success message appears indicating MFA has been enabled.
Sign In with MFA
- Sign in to eComply.
- When prompted, open your authentication app.
- Enter the current verification code into the Validation Code field.
- Select Validate to complete the sign-in process.
Note: We use a risk-based approach rather than prompting for MFA every single time you sign in to eComply. What this means for you:
- Most of the time, if you're signing in from a familiar device or location, you likely won't be prompted for an additional verification step.
- If something about a sign-in attempt looks different than usual, you may be asked to verify your identity with a second factor before you can proceed.
- This approach is designed to add protection where it matters most, without creating unnecessary friction for your everyday work.
Resetting MFA
After you have set up MFA for your eComply Profile, you can reset it. For example, if you have replaced your mobile device.
From the left navigation menu under the Activities tab, navigate to the Account Settings section.
Select Change Password.
Select the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) tab.
Select Reset MFA.
- Select the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) tab and set up Multi-Factor Authentication starting with Step 3 in Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication.

Summary
Multi-Factor Authentication helps keep your eComply account secure by requiring an additional verification step when needed. After completing the one-time setup, you can use your authentication app to verify your identity during future sign-ins whenever eComply determines additional security verification is appropriate.
