Overview
Use this article to complete and submit a Personal Net Worth, or PNW, statement as part of an online certification application. The PNW process may include entering owner details, reporting assets and liabilities, uploading a signed or notarized statement if required, entering ownership percentages, and marking the section complete. If you have the owner’s information, you can complete the PNW directly. If another owner needs to provide their PNW information privately, use the invite-owner option instead.
Before You Begin
Before you start, make sure:
- You have access to the online certification application.
- You have your asset and liability information available.
- You know whether the agency requires the Personal Net Worth statement to be signed or notarized.
- You are prepared to enter spouse information, if required.
- You know whether another owner needs to complete their own PNW privately.
- You are prepared to enter the information manually.The system does not populate fields from an uploaded document.
Steps
Start the PNW Statement
- Open the certification application. Read Submit a New Certification Application to learn how to start and submit an online certification application.
- Locate the Personal Net Worth Statements section and select Fill In.
- Select the PNW tab, if needed.
- If you are the owner or have the owner’s information, select Add PNW Statement.
- Select Add PNW Statement to confirm that you want to add the statement.
- Enter the owner’s name in the Owner’s Full Name field. The system requires the owner’s full name before the Personal Net Worth statement can begin.
- After entering the full name, the user selects Submit and is taken to the instruction page.
Complete Owners Details
- Review the instruction page.
- Select each acknowledgement checkbox in order to contine.
- Select Start by Providing Owner Details.
- Enter the Owner’s Email Address.
- Enter the Owner’s Residence Address as reported to the IRS.
- Enter the Owner’s Residence Phone.

Select the owner’s Marital Status from the dropdown.
Note: If you select a married marital status, you must complete the spousal information.

Select Permit certifying organization staff and/or customer support representatives to view PNW Statement prior to submission only if the agency or support team needs access to help with the Personal Net Worth statement.
Note: If you do not select this option now, you can grant access later. Read Grant Access to View a Personal Net Worth Statement for more information.
- Select Save.

To update the owner details later, select the edit owner details link next to the Owner’s Full Name.
Note: Required fields are highlighted with a pink background and a red asterisk (*). Sections that still need information show as Incomplete. Finished sections show as Complete.
After you save the owner details, choose the next step based on the information you have:
- If you do not have the owner’s asset and liability information, invite the owner to complete the Personal Net Worth statement privately. Other application users will not be able to view the owner’s PNW details. Read Invite an Owner to Complete a Personal Net Worth Statement for instructions.
- If you have the owner’s asset and liability information, continue to Enter Assets and Liabilities.
Enter Assets and Liabilities
- Review each Assets and Liabilities section.
- Select Fill In for the asset or liability section you need to complete.
- Enter the required information for that section.
- Add additional rows where available, if needed.
- Select X to delete a row, if needed.
- Select Save and Return after completing the section.
- Select Save and Continue Editing if you want to stay in the section.
- Select Save Draft and Enter More Lines if you need to add more entries. As sections are completed, the system shows completion status. Some entries may fill in more than one area, such as an item that affects both an asset and a liability. She also showed an exa
- Repeat these steps until all required asset and liability sections are complete.
- Review the calculated Total Assets.
- Review the calculated Total Liabilities.
- Review the calculated Net Worth.
Note: The system calculates Net Worth by subtracting Total Liabilities from Total Assets values entered in the worksheet.
Upload the Statement
- Select View & Print Final PNW Statement for Signature & Notarization.
- Review your entries for accuracy.
- Select Print to print a hard copy or select PDF to save a PDF copy.
- Sign the statement.
- Notarize the statement, if required by the agency.
- Save the signed copy to your computer.
- Return to the Personal Net Worth Statement section.
- Select Attach Signed & Notarized PNW Statement.
- Select Choose File.
- Select the signed or notarized document from its saved location.
- Select Upload File.
- Repeat these steps for each owner, if applicable.
Note: Files over 100 MB will be rejected. Accepted file types include PDF, DOC/DOCX, XLS/XLSX, TIF, JPG, GIF, and other industry-standard formats.
Submit the Personal Net Worth
The Personal Net Worth statement must be complete, and ownership percentages must be entered. If there are multiple owners, each owner’s percentage must be entered, and the total should equal 100%.
- Select Submit PNW Statement.
- Confirm the submission.
- Return to the application.
- Enter the ownership percentage for each owner.
- Confirm the ownership percentages total 100%.
- Select Mark as Complete for the PNW section.

Tips
- Required fields may be marked with a red asterisk or highlighted background.
- Some sections may automatically update related asset or liability totals.
- Uploading a completed offline PNW form does not populate the online worksheet.
- If you completed a PNW form outside the system, you still need to enter the values in the module.
- If changes affect the signed document, print and upload an updated version.
- You may only be able to withdraw the Personal Net Worth statement before the full application is submitted.
- The agency may not be able to review the PNW unless view access is granted.
Summary
A completed Personal Net Worth statement includes owner details, asset and liability information, any required signed documentation, and ownership percentages. Once submitted and marked complete, the PNW section becomes part of the certification application review process.
